This may seem a "tough" read but it's a smart read as well since if you read it out loud you will hear a different meaning. For example: "All we here" addresses the audience and their perspective denoted by the use of the word "our" and the reader sees the word "here" and "our", yet, read aloud the audience interprets it as "hear" and "are". Same thing for “know one’s victory” which, when spoken becomes “no one’s victory”. Of course, there are more…have fun with this one…I did. And so here goes…
And so it goes.
Once upon a time, far-far away but not too-too long ago…
Everything was kind. A perspective. A notion.
Of course, one that we’d bestow.
Everything was kind of a perspective.
An ocean, of sorts…one with its ebbs and flows.
And, once upon this time…descended “misconstrue” and “juxtapose”.
And everything…it started changing.
The end.
And, so it goes.
Euphoric in our planning. It has to be the best surprise.
We want to see others happy. We need to see it in their eyes
Every detail assessed…over and over again
It has to be perfect! We have to be that friend!
To share with you the moment we say, “You can now open up your eyes.”
(Look at all I’ve done for you!) “Are you happy with my surprise?”.
All we here: Our validations. Our “well-done” benedictory.
A competition spent preparing to know one’s victory.
To end up lying with ourselves, counting up the cost.
Holding ribbons from races won as well as the feelings that we lost.
The double entendres and double-edged swords eviscerating our mind
Oh, how we give good love when we fuck each other blind.
